Grandmaster
Felix Leong
Grandmaster Felix (Cheok Son) Leong was born at Foshan, in Guangdong province in China to a Martial Arts family. This led to him being influenced from an early age, especially by his Grandmother who was regarded as a highly skilled martial artist. Grandmaster Leong has studied Wing Chun under a number of highly respected Masters including Ip Chun (son of Ip Man), Sum Nung, Lei Chi Wah & Pan Nam. He is also a Permanent President of the Ip Man Wing Chun Association governing the Australasian region and has over 50 years teaching experience!
In 1974 Felix established his martial arts academy in Sydney moving to Adelaide in the early 80's. His club has a background in all 3 lineages of Wing Chun along with Muay Thai, Wu Shu, Tai Chi and Qigong. Many of the world's foremost martial artists have taught at Leong's academy, including Ip Chun, Yuttana Wong Bandue and Li Jun Feng. Leong is one of the few disciples of Sum Nung, successor of Yuen Kay Shan. Felix is a Certified Grandmaster of the Chinese martial art Wing Chun. Amongst his other accomplishments, Felix has achieved his Gold Monkul in Muay Thai and is an awarded martial arts champion, and in 2023 he was inducted into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
Grandmaster Leong is also qualified in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Guang Chow Acupuncture and Orthopedic Hospital in Mainland China with over 35 years practicing experience.

Felix and Sum Nung
Grand Master Leong's dedication and skill were quickly acknowledged when he earned the prestigious title of National Martial Arts Champion in Australia in 1977. The following year, he ventured to New Zealand and emerged victorious as the champion of the South Pacific
region.
Impressed by Leong's exceptional talent, Sum Nung graciously accepted him as a student, as he believed in nurturing only those who possessed true fighting spirit, drawing inspiration from his passion for bird fighting. Over the course of the next decade, Leong made numerous trips to China to continue learning from Nung, until the latter's passing in 2002. In the remarkable martial arts journey of Grand Master Felix Leong, he had the honour of training under influential Wing Chun masters who played a pivotal role in shaping his skills and expertise.

Felix and Ip Chun
As Leong's training progressed under the guidance of Sum Nung, his skills and dedication caught the attention of 1p Chun. Impressed by Leong's commitment to the art and knowing the history of how Sum Nung had defended him, Ip Chun took a liking to Leong right away. Recognizing Leong's potential, Ip Chun presented him with a significant honour — the first certificate issued under his association, marked with the number "001." This gesture marked the beginning of a profound mentorship that would shape Leong's martial arts journey.
As Leong's journey continued, Ip Chun played a vital role in further expanding his training. It was Ip Chun who introduced Leong to his last teacher, Master Pan Nam, a martial artist who exemplified a level of skill and expertise on par with Ip Man himself.

Under the tutelage of Master Pan Nam, Leong honed his techniques and deepened his understanding of the art. The invaluable guidance from both Ip Chun and Master Pan Nam played a crucial role in cultivating Leong's mastery of Wing Chun.
The influence of Ip Chun and Master Pan Nam on Grand Master Felix Leong's martial arts journey has left an enduring legacy. Their mentorship not only refined his physical abilities but also instilled in him the principles of discipline, respect, and dedication to the art.
An esteemed distinction held by Grand Master Leong is being the sole Wing Chun Kung Fu instructor certified by four distinct lineages. This certification serves as a testament to Leong's deep knowledge and expertise in Wing Chun, earned through his dedicated training and mentorship under these esteemed masters.
